The Wales Environmental Public Health Service has published its sixth annual review.
The Wales Environmental Public Health Service is a collaboration between Public Health Wales’ Health Protection team and the Wales office of Public Health England’s Centre for Radiation, Chemicals and Environmental Hazards.
The service aims to minimise environmental exposures and health impacts, and help create healthy, fair and sustainable communities.
Our latest review summarises the service’s activity during 2018/19. It highlights the broad range of reactive and proactive work undertaken by the team, relating to acute environmental incidents, air and water quality, and persistent hazards such as lead and radon.
Dr Huw Brunt, Lead Consultant in Environmental Public Health for Public Health Wales said:
“We’re pleased to publish our latest annual review. It not only describes the breadth of issues we deal with, but also how we work with our partners and the public to manage risks from environmental hazards. Perhaps most importantly, it shows how our Service continues to evolve, balancing the provision of reactive services to support incident management, with proactive efforts which make a valuable contribution to environment and health policy development in Wales”
