Public Health Wales Microbiology Division has been awarded UKAS accreditation for compliance with ISO 15189:2012. The following local tests are currently outside of our accredited scope due to service improvement projects and will be considered for assessment by UKAS at a later date.
We have recently introduced a number of testing platforms in our laboratories to detect SARS-Cov-2 (COVID 19). Whilst these tests are not currently on our UKAS accredited scope for compliance with ISO 15189:2012, ongoing assurance of quality is provided by internal and external quality assurance procedures, quality control and training. This is all evidenced and contained within our Quality Management System.
During 2021, the serology assays performed on the Abbott Architect platform will be transferred to the Alinity i platform. Following the verification of the new platform, the serology assays will temporarily be outside of our accredited scope, until the next accreditation assessment by UKAS.
