After Your Diabetic Eye Screening

Tropicamide 1% eye drops can cause a reaction in or around your eyes.

If you experience any of these symptoms after screening, you should see your optometrist immediately or go to a hospital emergency department near you.

The symptoms are:

• pain, discomfort, swelling or itching in or around your eyes;

• redness in the whites of your eyes;

• worsening or persistent blurred vision a few hours after being screened (you may also see rainbow halos around lights); and

• nausea or vomiting.
