This information is for you if you have been offered further tests for suspected chromosomal conditions
You have been given this information because your health professional suspects that your baby may have a higher chance of having a chromosomal or genetic condition.
Not all of the sections will be relevant to you. Your health professional will have discussed the sections that apply to you.
Section 12 of this book is no longer the follow-on test that is carried out on your chorionic villus sampling (CVS) or amniocentesis sample if you received a diagnosis of Down’s syndrome, Edwards’ syndrome or Patau’s syndrome. A further test, a Targeted Chromosome Analysis (TCA), will be performed on your sample taken. This test helps to identify the risk of the condition happening in a future pregnancy.
Your health care provider will discuss Targeted Chromosome Analysis (TCA) with you.
