Utilising the Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) to improve breastfeeding experiences for all

Listening to our community

Heather O’Shea, Swansea Bay University Health Board

A survey was undertaken of service users and feedback was obtained which echoed concerning results from BFI audits and highlighted the need for radical improvement in some areas.

The survey and feedback raised the profile of infant feeding in the maternity service and supported improvements in lead hours, training, support and antenatal and postnatal care.

This has resulted in improved feedback from service users and measurable reduction in supplementation. The survey will be repeated next year to assess improvement.
