I will like to know who order the Covid-19 ward closures in Royal Gwent Hospital?
And the cycle threshold of the PCR test used to determine covid 19?
Thank you for your recent request.
Public Health Wales do not hold information about ward closures in Royal Gwent Hospital. Public Health Wales is the public health service for Wales and as such is an independent NHS Trust. Therefore, do not have access to this information. As an organisation we have no jurisdiction over the activities of Health Boards and other NHS Wales organisations. This means we do not routinely have access to the data they produce. I have provided contact details for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board below; you would need to contact them individually for any information they may hold.

The real-time PCR assays used in Wales for COVID-19 diagnostics all run for 45 cycles however, the cycle number where the sample is defined as RNA NOT DETECTED varies by platform and target gene detected by the system. This is defined by the manufacturer. One platform that was used previously (Hologic) is isothermal, this means it does not cycle through temperature changes in the same way as the real-time PCR systems, therefore cycle values are not reported by this system.
