Could you be a Mentor?

A mentor is someone who is able and willing to share their skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to support the development and progression of another.

Meeting at agreed intervals, the general aim of a mentor is to:

  • Help examine career goals and decisions
  • Advise about any professional challenges that are faced
  • Offer constructive criticism and feedback
  • Help individuals to reach their potential at work
  • Provide introductions to useful contacts

The People & Organisational Development Directorate are seeking to pilot a mentoring scheme, initially for staff with protected characteristics but with the aim of this becoming available to all.  We are looking for individuals across the organisation who would be interested in signing up as mentors and offer advice and support to others.

Training sessions and information will be made available to those who sign up, as well as ongoing support.

We are aiming to launch the pilot scheme with members of the staff diversity networks in January.

If you are interested in signing up as a Mentor, please complete this form and return to Sarah.morgan67@wales.nhs.uk or Lisa.whiteman@wales.nhs.uk
