The All Wales Safeguarding Supervision Guidance has been developed by the National Safeguarding Service (NSS), Public Health Wales, on behalf of the NHS Wales Safeguarding Network.
Safeguarding supervision is an essential mechanism to delivering excellent care quality and should take place as part of a supportive and learning culture. This guidance advocates embedding a restorative component within all supervision sessions, seeking to support the development of resilient practitioners.
The guidance provides a framework that will enable those who deliver and those who receive safeguarding supervision to undertake sessions with certainty of their role, responsibilities, duties, and expectations. It demonstrates the importance of a restorative element to safeguarding supervision, and affiliates NHS Wales focus on health and wellbeing for all staff seeking reduction in work-related stress.
