The Arts Council of Wales has introduced the Cultural Cwtsh, a platform dedicated to uplifting the spirits and supporting the wellbeing of health and social care workers in Wales. This initiative offers short videos profiling a variety of creative activities led by professional artists from across the country. These activities span craft, painting, writing, drawing, dancing, singing, film, and photography, accessible in both Welsh and English.
The website features diverse tutorials such as transforming everyday items into art, creating wreaths or garden obelisks, improving vocal skills, relieving stress through dance, short creative writing exercises, crafting photo stories, and developing sketching techniques.
Funded by the Welsh Government, the Cultural Cwtsh is part of a broader initiative by the Arts Council of Wales aimed at promoting the positive impact of arts engagement on wellbeing. It was developed collaboratively with various healthcare organisations, including Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW), Social Care Wales, the Welsh NHS Confederation, Arts and Health Coordinators from Health Boards, and through input from healthcare workers in focus groups.
While the platform is dedicated to health and social care workers, all employers in Wales can access these resources and share them with their staff to foster a supportive and uplifting work environment.
